Susan Apkon, MD, Fischahs Chair in Pediatric Rehabilitation, Children's Hospital Colorado, Vice-Chair and Visiting Professor, Physicial Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Apkon focuses her clinical care on children with neuromuscular conditions including those with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA.) Her focus is on the medical management as well as maximizing their functional abilities and quality of life. Dr. Apkon Co-Directs the Neuromuscular Clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado. This interdisciplinary clinic provides comprehensive care to children with all types of neuromuscular conditions. Dr. Apkon's research has focused on the delivery of novel treatments to children with DMD and SMA and has included participation as a site PI or Co-I in numerous multi-site national and international clinical trials. As a PM&R physician she brings the unique perspective on function based outcomes.
