Dr. Jaskiran Ghuman is a Physiatrist passionate about patient care.
I go the extra mile to advocate for my patients and provide them with comprehensive care in the realm of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. I will complete my Fellowship training in Brain Injury Medicine at TIRR at the University of Texas in Houston in June 2021. After being Chief Resident at Nassau University Medical in East Meadow, New York, the experience has fueled me to aim for a leadership position once fellowship training is completed.
I am comfortable managing inpatient rehabilitation for patients diagnosed with brain injuries, strokes, cancers, amputations, and orthopedic conditions. My outpatient management skills include botulinum toxin injections for headache, ultrasound guided joint injections, electromyography and nerve conduction studies (EMG/NCS), musculoskeletal complaints including lower back, neck, and shoulder pain. I have a special interest in managing patients with Disorders of Consciousness and Spasticity. My skills include: intrathecal baclofen trials and pump management, chemodenervation with botulinum toxin injections for spasticity with ultrasound/electric stimulation/EMG guidance, phenol neurolysis injections. I am trained in Acupuncture and pride my multifaceted approach centered around holistic medicine and wellness.
