Dr. Henry L. Lew is a board-certified physiatrist since 2000. He also has a PhD in Audiology and Communicative Sciences from Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Lew completed his PM&R residency training and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) fellowship at the University of Washington. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, and currently holds two Professor appointments, one at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, the other with Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Dept. of PM&R).
He has published more than 130 scientific articles, 10 book chapters, and authored 4 Rehabilitation textbooks (Practical Electromyography, Polytrauma Rehabilitation, Braddom’s textbook, and Clinical Handbook of PM&R). He is currently working on his 5th textbook, titled "Geriatric Rehabilitation".
Dr. Lew been serving as Assciate Editor of AJPMR for 15 years, with addtional duty as the Journal's Review Article Section Editor. He has been awarded multiple federal and state grants to study the diagnosis and rehabilitation of brain injury, with emphasis on promoting evidence-based clinical practice.
