Brief Session Description : Many physicians feel ill-equipped to provide quality care to people with intellectual disabilities (ID), and a lack of training is a major factor contributing to this sentiment. Physiatrists, given their training in disability, are in a unique position to fill this gap in care. The Medical Student Council of AAP is excited to lead this interactive session on caring for people with ID, during which attendees will gain familiarity with the current state of healthcare for this population, learn clinical pearls directly from people with ID, and work through a case on healthcare transition and caring for adults with ID.
